Summer Assignment

-------Stonington High School awards 1.00 GPA point bump for students successfully completing A.P. level courses. This increase, can have a significant effect on a students GPA. You should understand that taking the A.P. Exam is a requirement for these courses, and failure to do so will result in the loss of the A.P. bump in your GPA. A recently adopted SHS policy now requires all students taking AP courses to maintain a 70% or better for each quarter during the year. Should a students fall below 70% at any time, he or she will be exited from the course.

-------The Summer Assignment includes topics discussed in chapters 1 - 6 of Serway & Faughn’s College Physics. Note that the assignment does not expressly require students to read these chapters however, the text material should be used as a reference to review topics that a student may have forgotten or need to complete the problems assigned.

-------Each assignment is accompanied be a completion date, and a stamped addressed envelope for the assignment to be sent to me over the summer for evaluation. It is expected that each assignment will be completed on or before the indicated date. Failure to complete summer work in a timely fashion may result in the removal from A.P. Physics for the 2005 - 2006 school year. I will confirm receipt of theses assignments by e-mail. As the summer winds down you will have completed the review of the first 6 chapters as a preparation for the start of the A.P. Physics curriculum.

-------Upon return, and after a very short period of review and questions, you will take two tests. The first will cover the concepts in chapters 1 - 3, and the second chapters 4 - 6.
