Portables on Site!
The portable classrooms were delivered to Stonington Middle School today. The units arrived around noon today and were temporarily parked behind the Human Services building until they could be moved on site after the school day ended and the parking lots were cleared. A big thanks to everyone involved in making this happen, especially the people in town and the Field Street neighborhood, for their patience and understanding as we moved these four big structures through town and onto school grounds. |

The Work Ahead:
Getting the portable classrooms on site is half the battle. Starting tomorrow, the installation crew will move each piece into its permanent position, secure it to the foundation footing, and connect all of the pieces. Next, various tradespeople will complete the interior finish work. This includes connecting electrical, fire alarm, WiFi, and other services. They will also install classroom doors and fixtures and install new flooring throughout all classrooms. They will also install the access ramp to the entrances. While it's great that the portables are on site, the crews will need about four weeks to complete the work before we can move students and teachers into the new classrooms.
