Final Report on The 9/25/26 Football Game
Dear Stonington Schools Community,
The final report on the incident that occurred at a recent football game is attached to this post. Stonington Public Schools is committed to maintaining an environment of dignity, sportsmanship, transparency, and accountability. After the varsity football game between Stonington High School and New London High School on Friday, September 25, 2026, concerns were raised about the behavior of Stonington spectators, athletes, and coaching staff. In response, we conducted an investigation, which has recently concluded.
Although this incident does not reflect the standards and aspirations of the Stonington community, the investigation found that all Stonington athletes and staff conducted themselves with exceptional poise and sportsmanship throughout a tough game, exemplifying the high standards of conduct we do aspire to.
I will not engage on social media to combat rumors and false narratives, as doing so is rarely productive and risks escalating online debate rather than resolving core issues. Our responsibility is to maintain accountability within our school community, which has been accomplished through sanctions issued to any spectator who violated Stonington Board of Education Policy 1030: Civility. To protect any student-athlete who may have connections with these spectators, identities and sanctions will remain confidential.
